Our History

Almost twenty years ago, on October 1st, 1996, Shon Beverage and Frank Gentry Jr. incorporated Professional Value Internet Services, Inc. and began providing dial-up internet service to Stillwater, Oklahoma. Today, ProValue.Net, or “PVN”, is an Internet Service Provider (ISP) providing High Speed Internet access to rural residents in over 4,700 square miles of North Central Oklahoma.

During our early years of operation, internet usage and its availability were still in their infancy. By today’s standards, the technology of the time was archaic. Dial-up internet connections, dedicated phone lines, and slow speeds were the norm. However, an exponentially expanding number of area businesses and Oklahoma residents were quickly becoming computer savvy, as well as reliant, and taking advantage of the benefits of this new and rapidly advancing technology; so were many new companies born of the Internet. Upstarts like: Ebay, Paypal, Skype, Netflix, Google, and so many more, the combination of which served to fuel the demand for increasingly faster and reliable Internet connectivity.

We launched at a critical time as new technologies and ever-changing capabilities for internet access became available. The only service providers for the greater Oklahoma area were large national companies like: Compu-Serve, America On Line (AOL), and Prodigy. Not only were these companies very impersonal to deal with, they also only offered inconsistent dial-up Internet service. In most instances their product was outdated by new technologies before being fully deployed throughout their customer base. This created a void in the market and we were well-positioned to help address customer needs.

From 1996 to early 2001 we offered a local source for personalized, competitively priced, dial-up service with speeds that were more dependable and faster than our national counterparts. However, dial-up was too slow for the advancing computer systems, intense consumer appetites for faster browsing, and an increasing ability to download massive amounts of data from internet sources.

We recognized early on that dial-up was not going to continue to fulfill customer needs, and that emerging technologies could be utilized and were needed right here in Oklahoma. In 2001, we installed our first high speed internet tower for wireless internet connectivity to customer homes and businesses in Stillwater, Oklahoma. In the following year customer demand for high speed wireless internet allowed us to expand coverage south of Stillwater to Perkins, Oklahoma and Northeast to Glencoe, Oklahoma, increasing our service footprint by 400 percent.

Since then we have remained tirelessly committed to emerging technologies through faster point-to-point and point-to-multi-point radio systems and more reliable redundant backhauls. We joined the Wireless Internet Service Providers of America (WISPA) and participate in their national trade events. The ProValue.Net team has grown to 15 members with a host of wireless, network, and safety certifications.

We formed a strategic partnership with Central Rural Electric Cooperative (CREC) that allows both organizations to provide better service to our customers. With this partnership ProValue.Net customers who are also CREC members have the option to combine their billing and receive a discounted rate for Internet access.

Now our network includes more than 70 towers providing service to more than 50 cities, towns, and communities. All of our network infrastructure is connected to the internet with multiple redundant fiber circuits from our home office in Stillwater. We are still your local source for personalized, competitively priced, high speed internet service.

Going forward you will continue to see the same revolving system wide upgrades to our infrastructure. The next generation of wireless technology promises to bring greater speeds than our industry has ever seen. We will bring more towers online to improve capacity and speed for our existing customers and to bring coverage to Oklahomans who are currently unserved or underserved.

We are committed to providing the best internet experience and customer service possible to rural Oklahoma homes and businesses and would love the opportunity to prove it to you!
